    Default grumman 19 square seat removal

    has anyone removed a seat or two from their canoes? I was trying to add more floor space but dont want to weaken the hull by removing a ny strength. bob

    Have seen it but there will be problems over time, don't know the time but not a year or 2, how offten used,
    a friend did it for 7 years of moose hunting, it is in the turning under high power with a load, it will twice the canoe some, just think how the canoe turns when you apply lots of power with a full load, I mean hard turns, good luck
    PS keep the seat as you could reinstall it later if you want, any good sheet metal man can do it,

    That seat is integral support for the canoe bottom in the middle. I considered doing it, but talked with a factory (Marathon Boat Group) engineer, who convinced me that that seat was a structural necessity. He made sense. I wouldn't do it, IMHO.
