    Default Iron Dog winning machines

Is the Iron Dog more a test of the machines or riders? I can't help but notice that some brands are winning more. Some caught on fire, some couldn't power thru the overflow and some must have plain fallen apart. What say all you. This is obviously a brand war

its a combination of many things, cat doo and polaris are all very competitive in the iron dog and any one of them can win, luck, strategy, teamwork, mechanical ability, machine worthiness, weather, everything all plays a roll in the outcome of this race, the fire was a completely avoidable accident that was caused by carelessness and could happen to any brand, preparing these sleds is a big part of it, you can prep any of em to do it, just gotta put in the time, the right braces, blue loctite all over, all kinds of stuff they do to the suspension and everything, the awesome thing about the iron dog is its anybodys race, as you could see this year, tyler said he thought they were out of it 4 hours before the finish and what do ya know they kept on pushin and won...

well obviously polaris won, arctic cat a close second, and of course a skidoo exploded...im surprised it took that long to burn down.

Somehow I have a feeling that if a hot Polaris or Arctic Cat has gas poured all over it, it would ignite too...

The machine you speak of caught fire during careless refueling. But don't let facts get in the way of a good story. For the record, it was a backfire upon killing the engine that ignited the fire.

I filmed the race from start to finish, Quam/Palin had a winning lead until they both hit a snowdrift hidden ice chunk tearing up both machines ripping Palins left ski from the sled. A quick 10 minute + parachute cord repair put them only 7 minutes behind taking 2nd place. My hats of to the 1st place team Huntington/Olds for running a great race, and to all IRON DOG racers who ran one of the toughest races in IRON DOG history. These guys ran in conditions most could never imagine. Looking forward to 2012 already.
