Default Senate hearing on SB24 Today

At 10 am, Saturday the 19th, the senate will be taking public testimony on SB 24. This is the bill to add a guide services board for fishing guides. Is this what we really need in a depressed economy to spur business development? Will it help the resource? LIO's across the state will be airing the hearing and allowing testimony. Hope to see you there!

Thanks for the notice. Watching it on new legislative TV site. Looks like its a committee of only Tom Wagoner and maybe one other Senator? Who wrote SB24?

Not much to report on the meeting. In earlier meetings they recieved alot of negative comments so they are going to do a re write of the bill and are planning to start have more meetings in October. They are going to try to get better participation so that the bill will reflect what the guides want. Looks kind of like the process they used to make the health bill.

From testimony I listened to before I left for work, the only support for the bill is coming from the Kenai Peninsula. Lesil Mcguire wrote the bill, and the entire resource (senate) committee was there, most by telephone.
