    Default Iditarod

Anybody going to be out on the river with their airboat for the Iditarod?
Usually see a couple out playing on the snow during this event.
Also, if you do, ever have any issues with the carb icing up?

I may be out there, would like to, but have to finish up some work on my boat first. Don't have a heated area to work on it so have to do it on the warm days. Last year had problem with carb icing up. Ended up getting a carb spacer, stock on some older ford pu, that was set up to run coolant though it. Have to weld up one of the ports to make it work. Connected though the heater hose on water pump, works great, keeps carb warm enough not to have ice any more. Skip has more info on this mod also if interested or can ask me more. Bud

My boat has the spacer and the coolant plumbed to it. It still tries to ice up every once in a while.
I have seen others place a piece of cardboard (secured) right in front of the carb essentially blocking the cold air from hitting it directly and this seems to solve their problems.
I have not done it myself, but Larry Heater at deshka uses this trick to keep his boat from icing.
