Default last pics from the line this year....

Hate to see it all come to an end but its been a good run. Picked up a marten today, managed to get the AR-15 into action on a nice red fox and two snowshoe hares. Just a good day to be an alaskan for sure!

the new two additions aren't in this photo...gonna have to have one more skinnin' party tonight!

A couple of really good photos there. The catches are nice, but the herd of caribou makes me smile. That is so cool. And that last photo of the sun (I assume coming up?) is special. I've been sitting in my office watching and wishing I was outside to enjoy a couple myself. I sure do appreciate the time you took to share w/ us this season.

its been fun...did some math on the three weeks of trapping...
    $2000 fuel (500+ gallons)
    $3000 lodging/meals
    $1500 snowgo insurance
    $3000 trapping supplies/equip/ammo/traps/sleds/blah blah
    $330 snowmachine repairs
    $$,$$$ snowmachines...ouch.
    1663 miles in the snowmachines...each.
22 days of winter alaska....almost priceless!

trappings a money maker alright! lol

    Jake,

Sounds like you had fun! Glad that your math adds up like mine when it comes to trapping!

I am figuring if I can find someone to pay at least $500 per bunny pelt I may break even this year, but I heard the market is down on bunnies.

Great pics and some nice catches!!
I have such a hard time trying to decide which outdoor activity to do every chance I get!! Living in AK is a mental challenge

Jake, I haven't made it to the trapping forum in a while, great pics, thanks for sharing. I'll have to post up something here soon, what weird weather we've had, between blizzards and cold it's been hard on the dogs breaking trail all the time.

Some real nice marten out that way, nice chocolate brown colors. I had to do our taxes the other day for the kids so they could apply for college loans/grants, and if I really wanted to deduct all the costs of trapping (dog food, charter flights to get dog food out here, new traps and supplies) I don't think it ends up a real money maker, but at least keeps us in dogs and dog food and allows me to get around <grin>.

Congrats on all the success, really just being out there is what it's about,
