Default Limit changes in stock lakes and stream

KTUU reported this morning that Fish and Game is lowering the limits in stocked lakes and streams from 5 a day to 2. This change affects rainbow trout and Artic Char. I did not here all of this story. Does anyone have anymore information on this?

    JUSTIFICATION:
Anchorage area stocked lakes are popular and important fishing areas for Alaska’s largest urban center.
Area stocked lakes average 40,000 angler days of effort each year, and almost all fish stocked each
summer are harvested that same year.
There are 26 stocked lakes in the Anchorage area and an
annual stocking goal of 4,600 catchable-size (about 8 inches in length) Arctic char, 5,000
fingerling Arctic grayling, and 108,650 catchable-size rainbow trout.
    ADF&G is transitioning to
the new Jack Hernandez State Fish Hatchery. During this transition, the catchable-size fish program has
been eliminated. To conserve the catchable-size fish and help ensure angler opportunity throughout the
fishing season, it is necessary to reduce the bag and possession limit in Anchorage stocked lakes from
five per day of each species to two per day of each species, with only one of each species greater than
12 inches in length each day. The Jack Hernandez State Fish Hatchery is scheduled to start incubating
rainbow trout eggs in the spring of 2011. These fish are expected to be of catchable size in 2012, when
the Anchorage Area Lakes Stocking Program is scheduled to resume.
    DISTRIBUTION:
The distribution list for this emergency order is on file at the Region II Office of Alaska Department of

Fish and Game, Division of Sport Fish, 333 Raspberry Road, Anchorage, AK 99518, (907) 267-2218.

Thanks FishGod. Although I live in Anchorage, I fish mainly in the valley because the size of the catchable fish in Anchorage has drastically gone down over the last few years and fewer fish are available. The new hatchery should take care of this issue though.
