    Default Fly Swap (another)

What the heck... in honor of the new subforum, let's do another swap.

I've already received word some more people would be interested, so rather than keep adding to the first swap, let's just start a second. I'm happy to host another one. I don't get tired of seeing what other patterns people are tying - and then trying them out for myself.

So if you missed out on the first, or have another pattern you want to try, sign up. We'll try (hopefully better this time) to cap it at 12.

We'll make the deadline for getting flies to me the end of March. But if I get them from people sooner I'll do my best to turn them around.

    So far the list is:
    Wyo2AK
joefish00000 (I know he'll want in if he ever stops looking at the predator/trapping forum and sees this )
    kenaibow fan

If people want a theme, we can do that, but I'm fine with another open-ended anything goes.

I'll send out contact info again when more people are committed (plus I need to get back to work).

    Cheers,
    Rich

Sweet deal.... end of March got it. How many do I need to tie? 12??????
I like the open theme, although I don't need any more ESL's or Wooly's.

Me too. I need more details, because I didn't see the first one and I'm not really sure how it works.

A dozen fly tyers join in and each person ties 12 flies and sends them to the host who packages them up and sends you back 12 different flies (1 tied by each person). It is a great educational experiance. You can learn from the flies you get or use them.
I have such a hard time trying to decide which outdoor activity to do every chance I get!! Living in AK is a mental challenge

Sorry for the absence, guys... I've been swamped at work and haven't made it by here in a while.

    So far we're at:
    Wyo2AK
    joefish00000
    kenaibow fan
    monk2015
    DucksAndDogs
    Franken Fish

That puts us at 6, so we're half way there. I'm sure the rest will fill out over the next month.

Anyway, yeah - start tying whenever. Tie 12 total. Once we've got a full room, I'll send everyone my address.

As for a theme, I'm open to suggestions, but I like to keep things open. It's more interesting to see what people come up with that way. But for some ground rules, let's stick with trout flies (maybe we'll do a salmon-only swap sometime). Try to get away from woolly buggers and dolly llamas - I've got more than I need, personally.

Tie your secret fly that you use to outfish all your friends, or find a cool pattern online you've never used before and we'll be your testing group.

Feel free to post what fly you're going with (might inspire others), post pictures, list the pattern, etc.

Joe... that's awesome you got a new rifle. Sorry I've fallen off the face of the earth lately - I know you've been trying to get ahold of me. I've got a class for work I'm taking in teh evening, and them I've been working late/weekends a lot lately - so long story short I'm just not much fun right now. haha. I'll let you know when I get caught up and can get out of town for a day or two.

just to let every one know, I will be tying up some articulating flesh flies with a cone head or barbell.
It seems there are a wide range of trout files but every one should have flesh for trout. Sorry I don't have any pics post.

I'd like to get in if it's not full. It's cool if everyone gets a popping bug from my bluegill days, right? I bet Willow Creek rainbows would kill a popping bug. Just kidding about sending popping bugs, but I wouldn't doubt that something big and wiggly would catch a few, especially early in the season.
