    Default Another good read

There's some good reading out there these days on alaska history. just finished "SHADOW'S ON THE KOYUKUK" about the life of Sidney Huntington. It's a good reading about the "old" ways of life in the koyukuk country

I agree, that was an excellent read and really enjoyed learning more about Mr. Huntington.

I have read that book three times. People today have no idea what pain and suffering is. Eating maggots off your dead mother is a level of anguish few have ever known. The discipline those kids had, to not go into the store, because they were told to stay out of there. It truly one of the Great Alaskan Reads.

Agreed. Dispite the minor differences from each brothers point of view, it'll definitely make you think of how good we have it.

Not sure they ate the maggots off their mother, but suffering wasn't in short supply, thats for sure...

I had decided not to run a trapline this year, too many other things to do, ect... Then I read this book and I think, what the hell is wrong with me, get my sorry butt out there and just do it. At 52 I felt like a real wienie compared to Mr. Hungtinton.
