I am a life-long Minnesotan and am in final stages of getting a job and moving to Anchorage. I have been a hard-core ice fisherman and am at lake of the woods right now, what is the scoop on ice fishing up around Anchorage? how far to good fishing, what kind of fish - for me now it is almost exclusively walleyes and pike, looking forward to learning about the new homefront!

Finally fished Big Lake yesterday for the first time. SLOW was the word. Almost needed an extension out there. A long day on the ice yeilded this guy.

We kept 16 between 4 of us, so I think there are still plenty left. We kept three more this last weekend due to some bleeding, and they all tasted fine. I am going to Birch this weekend to see if its any good. Hopefully I will take some more home, I have heard the Birch ones taste better.
