    Default Alaskan Campers

Anybody seen one of these lately, or actually have one?? I am fond of the idea of how they work.. I have a 8.5 ' Jayco that works pretty good, i'm just facinated with the low clearance of these things. I don't mind dragging branches down the side of my Jayco, as I paid $200 for it. I care more about the truck than the camper. I've never seen the interior of these crank up campers, but i'm guessing there's not much interior/cabinet space. I also like the bathroom/porta potty in mine, guessing they don't have that. I haven't seen one on Alaskaslist or CL in quite a while.

The Palomino campers have modernized this style and are making some very nice full featured collapsible truck campers.

Yeah, but don't those have a soft vinyl upper top? These are a two piece hardside camper. I've seen a ton of the 'pop up' campers with the tarp type material, but that's not what I want.

Thats my truck and camper, its a '76 10' alaskan. Its the second one i've owned the first was a 1958 10' non cab over. This one is much more comfortable has aprox 6'2" headroom in it, quite a bit of storage, room for a portapotty, 3 burner stove w/oven, catalytic heater, double sink, good sized table and a propane fridg. Check out the alaskan campers website it has quite a bit of pictures of interiors also check out http://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/index.php?/forum/18/ its a forum on these great campers. I've got some pictures of the interior of mine and i'll try to find and post them.
