Got my first Lynx today in a under log set I had baited with rabbit bits. Very exciting, not a big cat but it will definately make some warm gear for Tracy.

I can't wait for her to see it! It's very pale grey, very dense under coat, just beautiful!

I'll have to see how badly I hack it up skinning it and ask the boss what she wants. Might be mitts, last time out her hands got really cold.

Congrats, that is a great catch!
Brian is right, few know how much time, effort, thought, and preperation can go into these sort of things.
Days like this make it all worth it.

    Right On Rick,

Lynx has got to be right at the top, "Rewards of your work in the woods"

I've always felt those beauties were akin to the "Ghosts of the Forest". Yours looks like one of those
Ten Hours in that little raft off the AK peninsula, blowin' NW 60, in November.... "the Power of Life and Death is in the Tongue," and Yes, God is Good !

    Rick,

if you'd like to keep it frozen for a few weeks we'll have a skin`in party here....we still have to do one of our cats, the Boss can give you pointers.....

Huntress: If nothing else I definately want to watch him work. I don't see any reason to not hold off, might have another cat to work on by then, ya that sounds great!

Brian: Ya, it took a bit but I am very happy with this harvest. It was really nice to have something to show for all those walks up the mountain.

    Tailwind: Thanks!

Kodiakrain: Well put! Your right this is an unusually light colored cat, at least based on the ones I have seen. Tracy took a look at him before she left for work tonight and she is pleased as punch!

Nice catch. Was it a young female?

    Thanks Joe and bushwack.

Spoiled one I keep refering to it as him but yes it was female. Is that coloration more comon for females? It really is light colored even for mid winter. Its amazing how well that color blends in, I set it down to check one of my other sets off trail. I knew where it was but it was tough to see!

My experience is limited. We trapped one years ago that was a youngster and it had that color and a smallish head. It was a female. Nice catch!

Nice job! My experience has been the younger the cat usually the lighter the color. Not much snow in the picture.....
