Default 2010 trapping, the first half..

Going thru some supplies and repairing gear from last year.

Never in a million years that I thought I would be able to drive to my cabin. Thanks to my closest neighbor I was wrong. It's a private road as it comes straight off his gated property!

Felt great to finally get out and start setting.

First check was a double on cats!

I remember this one, not for him being a cross, but from him juking me one week by pulling up my wax paper and leaving me a turd right on the center of my trap!

    A couple of reds..

Great post and glad to see you are having a good season on the line.

A rat in a lynx set, I think we have an early nom for trapper of the year.

    Wow, Nice Work there,

Looks like a great Gang out there having a Great Time in Winter
    Thanks for all the Pics

PS I'm curious, not a Trapper, but a Longline Fisherman,

(y'kno Set, Wait (?), Check, how long ?)

A double on Lynx, whew, would I ever love to pull that off.

kodiakrain, thanks and the family and I do have great times out on the trapline. Hard to come home on Sunday nights. My line changes a little every year but I average a 30 mile line and I check it every week. Usually takes me about 3 hours to run the line which includes resetting many trail sets. When I get alot of snow or the winds pick up and throw my lynx cubbys out of service it takes me a full day. If it's -20 or colder I blaze thru the line with the kids on Sat and then go back and reset on Sundays. The catch's above are only a part of this years catch as alot of times my camara freezes up.

AKfishOn- Thats a 330 set in a bucket for wolverine. Possible but not real commen to catch a k9 in these types of sets. Much more commen for cats to stick their heads in and I have caught a few in the past but this is a first k9 for me.

Funny you say that MT, had a pack of 8 come very near the cabin last weekend. Havn't seen wolf sign in 3 years. They came down a open hill side, single file, onto the lake and stomped up a old ice fishing hole. -41 so I didn't set any gear but heading up this weekend to set some snares and make some pee sets. Did catch another big tom though...

That went by so fast that the sonic boom broke windows for miles. Steve probably has a new flattop haircut too!

Checking the line this week was BRUTAL! Sorry about the quality of pics but couldn't keep the camera from freezing up so i used my cell phone to take pics..

This one caught in a trail set but then pulled my drag up into the trees..

Another big tom. All but 2 this year have been over 30# cats..

I did have some excitment as I had a pack of 6-8 wolves come down ont my lake single file. They continued single file for about 40 yards onto the lake to an old ice fishing hole where they peed and pooped everywhere before spreading out and heading across the lake. These guys must have just been on a kill with all the crap they left. Heading tomorrow with some snares and #9s to set incase they come back thru..
