    Default Eureka!

Hey ... don't forget about Eureka?!? My buddy and I were there on Sat. and are trying to not be snow-selfish. This was our second time there ... good snow and lots of untouched boondogging to be had. To the North up toward 4 Corners was decent then got thiner towards Monument and more windblown. Also, to the South towards Gooblers Knob lots of soft snow amongst the lg spruce and in the swamps. And now the down-side ... very cold ... seemed like it was 20 degrees colder down in the low areas to the South.

What was the snow depth? We had heard that Eureka had very little snow so far this year, so that's why we haven't ridden up there.
"If snowmachiners would adopt the habits of riding one at a time and not parking at the base of avalanche prone slopes, the number of fatalities would likely be whittled by at least a third, if not by half." ~ Jill Fredston, in the book Snowstruck, In The Grip Of Avalanches.

...Sugar snow up to your knees ... deep enough to carve in ... not enough to get stuck in ... (Unfortunately!?!)
