Not everyone can afford flying for free (even if it's in Bethel ). Does anyone know what the initial pay is?

Is this a two week on/off job? Also anybody know what a starting pilot flying for Hageland or Grant can expect his first year?

    Thanks for the heads up.

I'm already on to them - application away.

The web-site doesn't say much about the fleet or operation though - anybody know about them, or worked there before?

I think Yute is mostly flying Cessna 207's now. They went to some larger equipment for a while but ended up downsizing. I think there might have been a ch. 11 and a sale in there somewhere.

I was in Bethel for five years, 92 to 97, flying for Larry's (now defunct)) I knew a lot of guys flying for Yute, and it seemed like a decent operation.

As much badmouthing as Bethel gets, I actually enjoyed the time I was there. I made a lot of friends and met my wife. She was a teacher in Chevak.

There's a number of good restaurants, a bowling alley and a gym. I was lucky to have my own airplane so got out when I could and beechcombed south of Bethel and fished. I suppose anything is what you make it, just have to focus on what is there instead of what isn't.

I noticed that Ron Dudley is the guy listed as the pilot employment contact. I know him from my Bethel days (he was with another carrier at the time) he's a real decent guy and you'll find him easy to talk to. Good luck!.....Louis

    Thanks guys

Sounds like living in Bethel could be a real adventure for the right person. I'm up for it - but the family would have to come too - we have two small kids. Might not be so much fun for them.

I'm up against it - applying from so far away, and having to relocate all of us. Worth a try all the same.

Wings of Alaska had an ad somewhere looking for pilots. Juneau would be a whole lot more family friendly than Bethel
