    Default Another K Peninsula Coyote

Well, got lucky again. This time I was out calling, working a creek drainage. Made a couple of stands a half mile apart with no luck. Moved to a low bluff overlooking an area where there were tracks crossing all over. After about fifteen minutes this female came out and gave me a nice broadside shot a little over 200 yards. Took her low in the chest trying to avoid hitting and significant bone and it worked great, exit hole about an inch and a half with the 175 Sierra Matchking out of the .300. This was at about 1:00 PM. Click image for larger version.

Well done Sameyer. As someone who calls the Peninsula a bit myself, I can appreciate bagging two in short order. Those aren't the dumbest coyotes around.....or maybe you think they are? Anyhow, good post.

Nope, I think they are extremely smart, smartest coyotes I've dealt with. Mostly I have been just lucky and pounding a lot of ground.

Nice work Sameyer, that's a pretty good sized coyote it looks like. Did you get a weight on her?

I was using a Haydel's Government Hunter, itís a double reed rabbit call that you can easily change pitch and sound like a jack rabbit or a cottontail. Not very expensive, a few years back I think I paid around $10.00. I like it as it is fairly loud and easy to call with. The downside of this call is it freezes up quickly, I forget to tuck it back inside my clothing and next thing I know I canít make a sound with it.
