    Default Need Rod/Reel advice

I've got Ugly Stick Tigers with Penn 340 reels for halibut and rockfish, makes for some really fun action.

Now I'm trying to get a good trolling setup going, but since I've never owned a trolling rod/reel I need some pointers on getting setup. Any advice you can offer is appreciated.

I just bought a Abu Garcia Ambasador 7000b combo. Its awesome. Cast so smooth, has a clicker, nice drag. It was $119 at fred myer

    Default Trolling setup

I agree that an Ambassaduer would be the ticket, at least a 6000. Maybe a C3 6500.
As for the rod, I would say an 8'6" rod that is able to handle up to 30 pound test would be sufficient.
I like St. Croix myself, but a good Lamiglas Kenai Series is hard to beat!

South Bend makes a heck of a trolling rod, the Trophy series I think.....

Good luck with whatever you get!
