    I'm a thinking I'll get one.

I've had a Steyr Scout, a Savage Scout, A Marlin "Lever Scout" and a homebuilt Scout...

I kinda like the scout rifle concept.

I'd be really inclined if they ever brought it out left handed. But based on past experience, I think my money is as safe as Fort Knox.

I'd probably snap one up if it were available in LH.

How can I tell if I really want one without a price!

Any idea of what these things will go for?

Wow, that's some dandy looking open sights that they've added to the compact scout. If I could retro-fit the original floor plate and magazine to that gun, it'd be worth having those rugged open sights.

    http://www.ruger.com/products/gunsit...le/models.html

The link shows it at $995.00

I've bought most of my Ruger's at 70% of their MSRP from a local shop near my house. If that holds true on this model you may expect to buy one for about $700.00

Here is the link to Ruger http://www.ruger.com/products/gunsit...le/models.html

Interesting concept and one I actually like. The only thing I do not like is the composite trigger guard small thing I know.

Hmmm, interesting little toy - I wonder if you can use lower capacity clips in it if'n ya didn't want all that hanging out?
    Thx Amigo for the post.

The pics are all with the 10 rd mags. They are single stack so a 5 rounder is half the size. I want one, local gun store has 2 on order, already let em know to give me 1st dibs.

Good info and some pics with 5rd mags:

I think I'm going to get one as well and put a Aimpoint red dot on it.

Call me old-fashioned, but to me a bolt-action rifle shouldn't have a big magazine dangling below the stock. Count me out.

The other 299,300,000 people can have it.

I hear ya. If I want a big mag .308 give me a lightweight AR-10.

My AR-10 is 16" (10 lbs with scope and bipod)and I have a Savage I built with a 20" heavy barrel and a 10 round mag (9.5 lbs), both in .308. The mags are right at the balance point and they are too darn loud for hunting without serious ear protection. If you are a wanttobe then it is a neat toy and could have some use as a defensive gun, but then I'd rather have it in a .338 Fed or .358 Win., but then the .308 is a fine round.

I have a Marlin XS7 in .308 stainless 22" barrel that weighs 7 pounds that holds 4+1 and cost under $400. Use the other $300 on good glass and you have a hunting gun. If you need a 10 round mag you have a need for some training...maybe that's why Ruger teamed with Gunsight.

I don't plan on using the one I get for hunting, I think, unless over bait. I just want one. It will be fun to shoot at 300m with a red dot on top. I already have a Bushmaster o.r.c. .308 (not a AR-10, as only Armalite rifles are AR-10s due to copyright laws) that will be used for most of my hunting this upcoming year.

With full disclosure...mine is only an AR-9.5 since it has non-Armalite A2 butt and scope mounts. I have run a 4 MOA red dot on AR-15's and they are a lot of fun shooting to 300 yds on steel. Much farther and you loose the target behind the dot. I am building a 20" 6.8 upper that should also be a lot of fun at that range. If the Ruger is reasonably accurate it should be a hoot but loud!!!

I like the Ruger and the cartridge they chose.

I would order one, if it was in 45-70 or 458 win mag.
