    Default Nikon 5x20-44

I was wondering if there is anyone out there with a Nikon 5x20-44 Monarch using stock scope rings? I just got a new Ruger 25-06 for Christmas and am looking to pick up a new scope as well.

I wanted to stick with stock scope rings because I was told that elevated rings could throw me off on longer shots.

Thanks in advance for any information provided...and Merry Christmas !!

The height of the rings will depend on the clearance of the objective bell of the scope. You need to keep the bell from contacting the barrel. Go with the lowest that will achieve the objective (pun intended).
If the scope "barely" touches the bbl with the stock rings, you may be able to slightly shim the bottom of the ring to get the clearance you need. I wouldn't try to use a shim if you're looking at lifting the scope more than a few thousandths of an inch.

Thanks, I did some additional research and it looks like going with the higher mounts won't cause any issues with longer shots so I think I'm good.

    Thanks for the reply!
