Alaska Mountain Caribou
Anyone have any information if Alaska FG are even considering lifting the hunting ban on Mountain Caribou in the Chisana Herd. There was some info floating around that a hunt might be available in 2011 if the Bull to Cow ratio would sustain an opening of a controlled hunt?
Our AC has been working HARD (probably too hard) on this). Had some very long meetings, etc. Right now it is dead, but we there is still a pulse. It has turned into a mess. If a hunt opens, it realistically will be a subsistence hunt for federally qualified users. We are working hard on this, but the feds have put a big damper in our work. There is still a pulse, but surely not in 2011.
