2-3 days. In my spot, any more than that, the birds are a problem.

Every day. While I'm not a PETA freak, I really don't like to think that something I caught is sitting there for days on end in a snare or foothold. I kinda feel bad for the poor critter when I come up on it and put it down.

Might be because of the hunting upbringing... Or maybe I am a softy at heart. I'm still trapping though!!

we check ours every third day, keep in mind that we only use snares and coni's so they are almost always dead when we get to them.

    rock,
Keep in mind Alaska is a big place and different areas mandate some of this. Running my line any more often would not be feasible my main line is 150 miles rt on snow machine. My other line is about 70 miles. Many only can get to their lines on the weekends due to the distance they have to drive to get to them so you will find a 7 day check is not abnormal, most in this case are using killer sets almost exclusively. Dead is dead be it 24 hours or 7 days if they are dead it can't hurt them.

In the interior we can have a week of -40f or more. At which point I'm not going to wreck my snowmachine to check my line.
