Default What was your first animal you ever trapped?

This is my first year trapping, and I just trapped my first animal. I believe it is a weasil. He's about 12-14 inches long, all white except for about 2 inches of black on his tail. Not what I was going after, but still very cool. I'm going to get it mounted but haven't been able to find any price quotes for something this small. Does anybody know on average how much it cost to mount a one of these? Thanks, and goodluck to everyone.

Sounds like you got an ermine.
I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Biggest madest possum I've ever seen. This was 30years ago in Louisiana and my dad insisted we cook it...........was so nasty even he couldn't eat it.

Squirrel, when I was 8, using a rat trap. Almost sliced my finger off while I was skinning it. I got mad that I was messing it up and slammed the knife into the board I was using and my hand didn't stop. They tried to sew my tendon back together but it never took, still can't bend my pinky finger past the first knuckle. I like to learn things the hard way.

Way back in the 70's, I was trying to live trap rabbits, all I caught was a skunk. Ever try to let a skunk out of a live trap?

Mice were the first for me too. Started when I was about 5 years old. And I got reeeallly good at it too!

Then my neighbor showed me how to construct small sliding door live traps from wood. That's when the fun began! I think I got more enjoyment from the woodworking and handcrafting the precision live traps as I did from putting them into use.

Nowadays, I stick to the occasional snowshoe hare when I get hungry for one.

I still like making contraptions though. Am contemplating building a moose guillotine in my garden someday. Hmmm, would that require a hunting or trapping license?

Muskrat at age ten in a size 0 long spring under grandpa's watchfull eye. After about a hundred rats and skinning skill good he moved me on to ratcoon and then fox. Longest from home trapline was Viet Nam where I trapped a few mongoose and rats the size of possum.
Now left only to be a turd in the forrest and the circle will be complete.Use me as I have used you
