    Default NR archery question

I was going to looks at the AK regs today for the answer, but thought I would try you guys first.

I was fortunate enough to draw a 472 goat tag this year and am contemplating bringing the bow as an option. I have never taken an archery certification course and was grandfathered in Montana because I had proof of holding a bow tag in the past.

Question, am I covered to archery hunt goats in AK without some sort of certification course? Does it have to be in AK? Do I have to supply any other support evidence if the certificate is not required?

Like I said, I will look it up in the regs or talk to my required outfitter about the specifics, just thought I would tap into you guys first.

thanks much...can't wait for my return to Kodiak

    Default I could be wrong,

but I'm about 95% sure you only have to have the IBEP Cert if you are hunting in a archery only area. I.E the haul road. I would have to check the regs to be 100% sure though. I never really worried about it since I already have the IBEP cert. I'm sure someone else will jump in here and anwer this one for sure.

    Thumbs up 2006/7 p. 17

An IBEP or equivalent certification is required to:
    - hunt big game with a bow and arrow in any weapons restricted hunt
    - apply for drawing permits restricting the taking of big game by archery
    - hunt black bears over bait iwth a bow and arrow in units 7 and 14-16

    Similar restrictions on muzzleloaders.

    You're good to go.
