    Default Quartz Lake 12/4/2010

Headed up to Quartz for the weekend to fish it for the first time. Went out there with Big Cox and TSS so I knew they would get me on the fish but didn't know what the stars had in line for me that day! It was a silver show for me. I caught a bunch of silver salmon, schools of them would show on the camera and they hit pretty aggressively. Later in the day I had one rod dead sticking and I was jigging in the hole next to it when I saw the dead sticking rod take a good hit. I had the drag pretty loose so when I grabbed the rod and pulled up I didn't realize how big the fish was. The fish ripped a lot of drag since it was loose but it also ripped drag when I tightened it. It was then that I knew I had something out of the ordinary. As I fought the fish I could see it it fighting the hook in the other holes and noticed to my horror that it had wrapped around the under water camera cord. It was a tug of war from there but I was victorious in the end. After a lot of "Holy S***" and F bombs being dropped we took a view photos and released the fish with no harm. Couldn't have a greater outcome. Talk about beginner's luck! Thanks BigCox and TSS for a great weekend! I will definately meet you guys there again.

Nice fish! I think I caught it's mate about an hour earlier. Great meeting you out on the ice. Now it is time to figure out the Harding mystery.

Yes great meeting you too. I'm sure we'll see each other during some other fish pursuit.

i think it would be neat if these larger fish out at quartz carried tags so we could have a database of who caught what fish where at what time of year... im sure this happens on other bodies of water... but being the small size that it is, would stand to reason that better results would come of it
