Thread: Long Lake (Glenn HWY)

    Default Long Lake (Glenn HWY)

Well went out to Long Lake today with the wife and dogs. Had our sleds out there to do some playing. Fishing was a bust but had 6" of powder to play with.

Been out there a few times but have not had any outstanding days to talk about. I am not sure how exactly to fish it just yet but one of these days i will figure it out.

I used to fish Long Lake. It is an easy lake to get skunked on. The difference between first class and coach is not that much.

Not this year fished the first point last weekend and the lack of fish is scary. I have fished Long Lake the last 3 Years catching the 8-13 inch Char non stop. I might have saw 10 fish total last weekend. I heard that the parking lot was full all summer.

i heard that the stocking rate has dropped quiet a bit the last few years due to the hachery problems. i cant wait until the new hachery is back to putting out lunkers like it used to be.

What don't make since if you look at the lake stocking reports from may through Sept they put over 90,000 fish in there with and average of 7 inches. Guess they got fished out this summer or they are still in deep water.

I drive by it most weekends. Never saw the parking lot even close to full.

Anyone ever fished salmon in the summer and been skunked, even when they're rolling and jumping everywhere? Just 'cause you didnt' do well in one day of ice fishing is no reason to write a lake off. Fish it half a dozen times, in various areas, get skunked every time, then maybe its time to write it off.

I've fished that lake more times than I can remember, and I don't think I've ever been skunked there. Close, though.

I saw a half dozen trucks out on the lake on Saturday morning, but haven't heard how anyone did.
