Thread: Yentna River

    Default Yentna River

River report from THE LUCE'S LODGE 9 mile Yentna River: The river from here to Scary Tree is in good shape however there is a lot of ice and overheating could be a problem. There is snow on the sand bars and there has been light traffic by here. Most people are coming in from Point MacKinsey or Big Lake. As I understand it the trail from Deshka landing is not very good. Rolly Creek is an alternative but I have had no reports from anyone coming in that way. We surely need some more snow!! It is in the forcast as I understand it. I will try to keep updated again next week. Dave Luce

The river is still open just below Deshka landing. And a lot of smooth ice. Rolly Creek is still open where the creek meets the river.
You might take the bypass trail over to the mouth of the Deshka but I have not heard of anybody yet.

Not sure where your cabin is but went out this weekend. We went out of the landing and up past yentna station. The yentna is great and the su is frozen but not much snow on the su. the snow gets better past Luces and was probably 3 feet above yentna station. a few open leads but nothing you can't get around.
