That would be a great idea if it didn't work on the good ol' boy system. If you're a member of the CBC you'll get the contract. It really helps if you're from outside like Virginia Maintenance Service (VMS) the Whittier tunnel people. Or Crowley, or SERVS....you get the drift

I was a weather guy for 22 yrs in the Air Force. It is a hard habit to break. I have a huge list of obs stations, satellite, radar, and weather cams and have them as favorites on my laptop. I use an air card and log on when I can to check buoys, wave heights, winds. etc. I use the wx cams for potatoe point and Valdez very regularly. I even check the wx cams on Thompson pass before I head down to Valdez. A picture is worth a thousand words. I wish they had a 24 hr wx cam at tatitlik, knowles head, and a few places like hinchenbrook and montague. It would sure help in trip planning, hazard avoidance and overall situational awareness. A laptop with air card in the cabin has sure been handy. Sometimes the coverage is a challenge but if you can get cell coverage you can get internet using ACS or ATT air cards.
