I believe this took place around Juneau. As I remember it the boat operators had these exhausted deer approach them while they were out boating and they readily accepted help getting on the boat. I think the boat contacted F&G who met them and helped transport them to shore and the deer seemed to be healthy and after resting they took off.

Caribou do the same thing, seen 'em miles from land, just bobbing, resting, and going some more........kinda weird, and only ONCE did we ever screw up and pop a FAt o'l bull out in Kobuk lake.....who we couldnt get into the boat, and we couldnt get back up on plane......so a s l o w ride to shore was the order of the day .....~~LOL!!~~ what a waste of gas, there were Fat Caribou on the beach when we got to ground ~~LOL!!!!!~~
