Default Dog doesn't wade into the water!

Well, my pup is now 11 months old and I have not been home a single day to train him. My wife is in school full time and with 3 boys at home the dog has been pretty much a full time pet. They do play fetch with him constantly and he never tires of it and nearly always retrieves to hand. His favorite toy is a stuffed duck so that is a positive. 90% of his fetch time is spent in the back yard but there is a river across the road from where my family is staying right now so once a week or so they head over there to let the kids and dog play.

After a number of trips to the river my wife informed me that my fancy expensive hunting dog would not wade out into the water. I was a little disappointed by that news then she sent me the pictures....

    Should I be worried? <grin>

Yes, splashing will scare all the fish away.

    Default Poor poor man

Got a dog that can't swim, but can fly. Oh bother. How embarrassing. Nice photos of the little guy, post some more.

Yep, 11 month old springer "Alpine". Hopefully this time next year he will be flushing grouse and ptarmigan on a regular basis! Given his desire to retrieve things that go splash though I may have to learn how to duck hunt!
