    Default That's it! I'm out-a-here.

Leave town tomorrow for a 30 day row through the Grand Canyon. I don't have a question, or need advice; I just want to brag about it.

    Default Grand Visions

Jim S......all my heros are real rafters.....sounds like a great month through the most hauntingly beautiful canyon on earth. In addition to the rafting, I hope you find some quiet time for yourself....and find yourself having "a vision" or two about life.

Wow! What a trip Jim! I've never done it, but have several friends who have. Trip of a lifetime. Be prepared for some rather large waves

    I'm baaaack!

It was fun, but I don't think I'll do that again. --- Too much like work. --- Something I'd forgotten about from the previous trip. I'm still in AZ, and it will take a while before getting any pictures up, but I should be home by New Years and will work on them then.

The best advice was from FamilyMan about taking an extra camera, but I actually took three cameras, just in case (and for different purposes). Half way down I did a header while skipping over rocks on the run to snap pictures of other boaters running Hance Rapid. Landed on my head in 18" of water, rolled up, and ruined a Canon SX20 IS point & shoot really fast. And later while using a "waterproof" Panasonic point & shoot as a helmet camera, I took a very strong blast of water that knocked me out of my seat and forced water into the camera body. It fogged up, but I was later able to dry it out, and it seems fine again. The video was great though.

Beautiful pix, Jim. I just went through the whole lot. I can't imagine how hard it was to sort out just those from what must have been hundreds of shots. That one of the burn on your hand... what happened there?

Jim, were you able to do anything with the sx20 camera after it got wet?
wondered if cannon could make it better again?
Also, will you be posting any of the video you took from your helmet cam?
The pictures are amazing and I hope it was a good trip and your traveling party were fun to be with.
did you see or run into very many other groups?
how were the point of interest stops as far as any human damage or trashed up etc.?
Any thing that you would have changed about the trip?
Thanks so much for posting your adventure Jim
Hope to see you at the boat show if you have time to make it.
