Default 5 Weeks of Getting Skunked = 1 Bird this weekend!

So I was finally able to connect on my first small game of the year on Sun. 5 weeks in a row of going out 6-8 hours one day a week. Only depressing part was he was beaded down about an inch off the trail 150 yards from the truck. It had been snowing all night Sat and still snowing Sun but we headed out anyway. Road about 15 miles first stop. On the second there he was just waiting for me. My buddy in the lead was actually nice enough to let me take him since he has been having good luck. I know half the people are gonna roust me for using a .22 but it was snowing like hell and we didn't have a dog to use. Stopped about 50 yards from him then snuck though the bush so I could flank him and not shoot straight down the trail. Anyway made me happy!

Wow, pretty expensive grouse...you tally the total amount you spent on that one grouse? I hate unloadin' a shotgun only to have them laughin' at me while flyin' away...boxes of shells used & nuthin' to show for it...

Good work! Dont let those scatter gun types rib you; my grouse/rabbit gun of choice is my tack driver Browning BLR with full size 4x scope. Head shots...they rarely get away.

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys!
My .22 is pretty tusty its a 30 year old browning lever action I was given as my 10th birthday present. In the 19 years I've had it only one miss fire. Oh yeah and still rockin the old school iron sights! Shes good out farther than you wanna shoot anything with lol

I usually carry a .22 for the ruffies that fly up in the brush and just sit there and give me dirty looks. There a lot let mean damage that way. Shooting on the wing is preferred but Im not too proud to take a head shot. Good shootin.
