    Default Hawkins island

What do you all know about the place. The big question how is the deer hunting? Hopefully someone from Cordova will jump in and say something good or bad. Thanks

Thanks huh fish and game fella out of Cordova said it was the tits for deer... Plans were to go to knight island but the biologist told Ralph to go to Hawkins island instead better hunting.

Good luck with that! Hawkins gets hit hard early by the locals and the deer get plenty smart. The locals head to Hinchinbrook and Montague this time of year. Unless they are day hunting, then they run across to Hawkins.
An opinion should be the result of thought, not a substitute for it.

    Default Don't do it

He just said that because they need the income down there right now. Get people down there to "spend some money". If it was any good you would of heard about it long before this trust me.

It is a hard island to access due to steep brushy hillsides right up from the beach - the deer are on top. I think there is a very old post on here about a guide/outfitter setting up a live-aboard boat in one of the better coves that allowed for easier climbs up to the alpine, and then shooting the place out upsetting the locals. If you can get around to the west side the access is easier but you may be trapped by the tides getting back to Cordova across the flats. Just requires some planning.

Hinchinbrook on the north side is much easier terrain to hunt from off the beaches and it is just a few minutes past Hawkins by boat. Good bays to anchor in and beaches to access the woods from.
