Kodiak Bear - exclusive guide areas
What exactly does "exclusive guide area" mean? I can't imagine it means only guides + clients can hunt that area, ruling out all guideless hunters. Is it more of an informative statement letting those who would like to use a guide know that there is only one guide that can hunt that area, thus their options are limited? Clarification would be appreciated.
It just means that as far as guided hunts that only a certain # of permitted guides can operate in certain areas.
Many of the hunt areas in the Kodiak Archipelago are within exclusive guide areas which may already be booked years in advance. Current information on guides is available from: Alaska Department of Community and Economic Development

exclusive is pertaining to the fact that only certain outfitters are permitted to hunt that particular area, so the commercial hunts are limited and permited only to those outfitters designated by the holders of said land...feds, native corporations...etc. has absolutely nothing to do with non guided or resident hunting other than the fact that exclusive areas arent going to be hunted by numerous outfitters simultaneously...usually only one. hope that helps a little.
