A similar thing happened to a new Nordhavn 56 motor sailor a few years ago:

Not a great way to start out with a new boat.

I read an article about a Nordhaven that was dropped only about two feet onto the ground when a strap on the hoist broke. It drove the keel straight up, breaking it's "back" basicly, the boat was unrepairable and considered totalled. The article was written by the boats owner, with the theme being about picking the appropriate boat yard to haul your boat.

I would certainly purchase a Nordhaven as soon as their store opened tomorrow morning for the up coming season, but I know without counting I don't have enough coins in my ashtray to afford one in this lifetime or the next few lifetimes.
