I don't want to volunteer any one or their boat but I think there is a few people around this site you might be able to talk into a fall day trip on the middel river of the Kenai.

fishak, be careful though, all it takes is one nice fish and it will become an obsession.

I'd start at the Cooper Landing bridge and work down from there. There's a bunch of pull offs along the sterling highway with river access. With the river being low, there will be a lot of exposed shoreline to walk.

Those are your options if you want to fish the upper on foot. Don't know about access on the middle or lower by foot. Most of my kenai efforts have been on the upper unless I'm after reds.

Possible to acccess the middle but nothing real close to the highway. 1) Walk down from Skilak lake following shore of Skilak or there is a trail from this point as well. Never walked it but it is a pretty good walk just to get to the Dunes area let alone the holes downstream from there. 2) There is a trail that is located near the end of the Kenai Keys Road just before the locked gated subdivision on the lefthand side of the Kenai Keys road that connects to the trail that comes down from Skilak. THis is not marked but just follow KK Road until you come to the gate and then backtrack about a block or so and you will see the pull off. About a 1/2 mile or so hike to Torpedo Lake and then several trails heading over to the Kenai from here. 3) Bings Landing but no real access from foot here as it is private property just upstream from here.

All in all not much access from foot in this area. Lots of brownies around this time of year in this area so keep a eye or two open for them.

Thanks iceblue I'd always thought there had to be access up that way just never got time to go explore it.

    There goes that secret
Your bait stinks and your boat is ugly
