Default What is the best Handgun for charging Moose........?

I understand that there is a angry moose behind every bush, what size handgun will stop a 8 ton charging moose.........? I would prefer a handgun that will not only stop the moose but clean it and bag it.

It has very pleasant recoil and it double as a grouse gun with bird shot.....did I mention that you don't even know you are carrying it in a pancake holster .

You need a Taser. Not only will it stop the moose but it will start to "cook" it for you!

    Just my nickel

In all honesty, I gotta say it again, FA 6" with full throttle 340 WFNLGC It could be topped by a 475 Linebaugh with a 400 Grain same design bullet, I like the six for the compromise of ONE HANGUN for everything, reasonable sight radius for mid range hunting, and short enough for daily packin in a cross draw or shoulder rig for quick access and fast handling. It gives up little for sighting to the 7 1/2", and gives little to the 4 5/8" for quick handling. I feel it is the most compact package with enough power to stop anything anywhere, yes for dangerous situations one can never have to much (BIG), but for those who seldom need it, as me, add a 45 colt cylinder, and now anything from varmint hunting to hogs, deer, and black bear, the 45 Colt with proper projectile 200 to 340 grain, and your in, full house 454 and the rite bullet, from 240 to 400 grain, will handle any bigger game to and including any animal in the world, and has.XD7P1291.jpg The Mod.83 in 45 Colt wears micarta grips and Colt cylinder T Then the beast in 454 Casull with wood grip's and 454 cylinder.

Over the years Iíve had several moose challenge me for the trail. When I could get off of the trail they would just go on by. The few times I couldnít get off the trail, standing my ground and shooting into the ground in front of me was all it took to stopíem.

The only exception to that was when I breaking trail for Bev Masek when she was training for the Iditarod. I had a moose charging me and I couldnít let her pass because Bev was behind me with her Iditarod team. My .41 Blackhawk that stopped that moose just fine

The only time I've had an issue with a moose I had my 44 Mag SBH with me. Some yelling, and moving around to give some space worked for me, but had it not I had no doubt the 44 would work. I use Buffalo Bore ammo. I like a good hard cast.
