Talking My wife the whack master

PA160004.jpgPA160001.jpgCongrats to my wife who bagged her 1st big game animal yesterday. We spotted a cow laying down and started to get closer when it got up and "left." We tracked it and could get a glimps of it every now and then but never a clear shot. When I thought we did have a clear shot, my wife couldn't find it in her scope. I realized that the scope was cranked up to 12 and that it needed to be cranked down to 6. That worked much better for her and when the opportunity arose again, she made the shot. We were very excited and I'm glad she has finally bagged something. She's been a real trooper, going out with me when she really doesn't feel like it. Hopefully this gets the bug in her. Well, I gotta go tend to the fresh tenderloin on the grill now.

Looks like some good eating.I'm still trying to talk my wife into pulling the trigger someday but she says she just enjoys the time afield and let's me do all the shooting.I bet that little bit of snow made for easy tracking.Good job and I bet those steaks are tasty.

it's a LH Savage accu-trigger in .300 win mag. She wouldn't mind trading it for a 30-06 or .308. When she's target shooting it kicks pretty hard, but for some reason she didn't feel a thing yesterday!

COngrats to a sharpshootin lefty. Nice moose. Great rifle. SHe shoudl hang in there witht he .300Win. My wife wears a shoulder type leather pad( from WallyWorld) when she practices and can shoot all day with it on at the range. Try it. About $14.00. It'll make that .300 seem like a .308 180

    Hey Goaty,

Really enjoyed meeting you @ DCW, Congrats to you both. I would say by the smile on her face that "SHE GETS IT".

    Enjoy.

Congrats to your wife, love to see couples out hunting together.

But I'd be remiss if I didn't tell you that in perusing the thread titles just now, and seeing yours, I busted out laughing because of the connotation I took from it <grin>.

Never heard that one before either!

Savage makes a muzzle brake that can be turned on and off. Have it on at the range to lesson recoil, but makes the gun louder. Have it off when hunting to decrease noise. I have one on a short mag.
Pretty sure you can send the gun to Savage to get one installed.

Congratulations to both of you. How did the pack out go?
