    Default Vortex riflescopes?

Has anyone had any experience with Vortex Diamondback riflescopes? They seem very clear and very bright for the money...

Don't know much about the Diamondback, but the Vipers are excellent scopes. Cameraland has a bunch of Vipers on sale right now. For the price you can't beat them. I use a Viper 6.5-20 on a .223. The only drawback is the eye relief. On my harder recoiling rifles I prefer at least 3.5 inches of eye relief.

If you're looking to put one on a magnum, make double sure you're comfortable with the eye relief. 30-06 and below should be fine for 3" and up of eye relief.

I would be putting it on a .223 for my kids. The one that I was looking at was the Diamondback 4-12x40, it seemed like a nice scope for the money.

I wouldn't worry about it on a .223. Vortex has great products and they have a serious warranty. I haven't seen the Diamondback but every Vortex product I've seen is a quality product.
