    Default large grey bear

I saw what looked to be a large grey bear Yesterday near thunderbird falls. It was running through some willows near the Highway. The color seemed very unusual. It was much bigger then any black bear I have ever seen. Do brown bears have a grey color phase or maybe the old ones turn grey?

i have seen a few grizzlys that i would call gray/silver. i think it would be unusual to see a black bear that color around southcentral.

I had the pleasure of seeing a blond griz. with two cubs the same color. We were going up the river and they stood up as we were going by, and Dad asked me if they were polar bears. ( Almost completely white with a shade of brown, all of them ) Amazing to be able to see something like that.

Actually when it first caught my eye I thought it might be a wolf, but when I looked straight at it I could see it was way too big and moved completly different.
