    Default DE321 Success

7x8 Roosevelt. Taken by one of my very best friends in the World. Gave up my 323 tag to hunt this with him. Big elk, in any state. Extremely hard hunt.

I noticed he's just kinda smiling. I'm sure he's in some nasty hole, late in the day, tired, and knows he's got two more days of hauling ahead of him. Is that the Etolin draw? I know there are some dandies in that hunt and I try for it every year. I've got a good plan if I ever get drawn.

It looks to have taken a fall with the nicks in that bone.

I wish I was at their place for a BBQ

    CONGRATS!

I never post full reports here.
But my offer stands to anyone, if you draw, pm me, and I will help you out, hell I'll even go and pack meat like I did this trip.

hahaha.. It was exactly like that. Etolin is soooo tame, it's a joke over there, Didn't even need my cork boots

You are a man wise beyond your years... and very observant. I do believe reality is starting to kick in in this photo...
And yes, that mean ol' b1tch gravity played a mean trick on us.

    Etolin draw, first rifle season.

Exceedingly nice Elk, for sure. Very different from the one's on Afognak. Must be from a totally different strain/gene pool. Good going guys.

    Default WOW

That, to me, is just an outstanding picture. Very well done. It tells a story all by itself. I have never hunted elk, but he looks just monstrous! I can't imagine the toil it took to get to him, much less get him back out.
Thanks for sharing, it made my morning,

Absolutely awesome picture, thanks for sharing. While you're at it, add that photo to the hunting photo gallery at the top of the page. My son and I were just watching the slide show from last year and enjoying the great diversity of animals that our members have shared. An elk like that would make it even better.

That really is one of those rare pictures that seems to tell a story beyond the sum of its pixels.

Congratulations! That is a fine animal. The best sound in the world is an elk bugling in your draw, and there is no finer table fare for me and my family. Sounds like you poured a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into that hunt. . . . but it hurts so good, right?! Only a true friend gives up a tag to support his partner. Way to go to the both of you.

A front quarter of moose for a hind quarter & 1/2 the backstraps of the elk sounds more reasonable.

    Then I'll forgo the 00.
