    Default Starline brass...

I noticed this morning that Starline is again listing both lengths of .38-55 as "available".

You can also form from .30-30 or .375 Win cases. You will be a bit shorter than .38-55 factory length.

I remember a time when there was no factory fodder for the round available, and darned little brass, and it was used. We fireformed .30-30 brass and seated the bullets long to get proper function in the old Marlin lever gun we were shooting.
Starline makes both the early 'long' case, and the case that's the same as the last Winchester loaded rounds. Excellent brass, and available bulk. If you've got an earlier rifle that needs the extra length, then this is the only game in town.....
