Default Trailer tires for 5000 pound boat, dual axle.

I will need to replace the tires on my dual axle trailer this spring because of dry rot. I have heard of people putting car tires on their boat trailers. Is that common? Is it better? If car tires are a bad idea, please give me some advide of what and where.

Goodyear Marathon's are considered to be the best trailer tire. My research also suggests car tires never be used.
These guys know a good deal if you want to do more research:

    Default trailer tires

Most trailer companies recomend bias ply tires for trailers. The raidials that most cars use have a different side wall construction that flex differently than bias ply tires. Also be sure the load range of the tire matches your application.

Thanks for the websites. Lots of good stuff. Before I go thumbing through the yellow pages, whats a good place in Anchorage to get them?

Any Goodyear dealer should be able to order them. I bought mine through the BX service station on Elmendorf

    Default stores

You should be able to get them at Six Roblees or Trailercraft.
