    Default Recommend a tannery

Have a dozen beaver pelts that I want to get tanned. Haven't sent out any furs before so I am not familiar with which tanneries do quality work for a reasonable (lowest) price. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Out of State tanneries would work too. Thanks in advance.

I used Moyles last year... reasonable price and very fast turn around.

I just received my second batch of beaver hides from Moyles. They turn out a great product at a reasonable price.

Thanks for the recommendations, sounds like Moyles is the tannery to send my beaver hides too. My brother also pulled 20 beaver hides outta the attic and is gonna get them boxed up too. Yes the prices are reasonable and seems turnaround time is good. Wonder if they also tan seal hides? didn't see seal listed. Have 10 seal hides that need to get tanned. Will probably send them an email to get prices. Thanks again.

I like Alpha fur Dresser in Anchorage, they had a good turnaround time and price. Plus you support Alaska business.

Never again will I send a hide to the tannery in post 7. They all but destroyed a coyote hide they tanned for me last year.

I agree Grem, we saved a caribou skin for a rug and the thing came back basically split in half where someone had ripped it right down the middle of the back and tried to sew it back together.....Haven't been back since.

I've sent many a musk ox hide to Alpha...but mainly because I didn't want to deal with fleshing and drying it. EVERYTHING else go to Moyles. That said, never had any issues with Alpha except for their turn around time and trying to get a hold of anyone there is about impossible.

I would recommend alpha here in town. They have done all my sea otter hides and the work has always been first rate. They charge 80 bucks a hide, and I just skin them, they do all the fleshing and tanning.

Thanks everyone for your recommendations and input, just sent out 29 beaver pelts to Moyles. My brother and I combined our order to save a lil money on the tanning cost. Now I gotta get the seals boxed up and sent out. Thanks again.

Decided to add in an additional 7 beaver pelts and 7 otter pelts to my tanning order. Finally pulled out my seal hides too and I have 16 that need to get boxed up and sent out. Getting seal hides tanned is pretty spendy so I guess I am gonna have to wait for a while before getting them mailed out to Moyles.

Otterman is off beaver trapping for a week, I am sure he will get back with you when he returns.
