    Default Parks Hwy Report

Fished Montana and Goose Crk pretty hard this weekend... For all those who were complaining about high water levels this year, now is the time to go - Everything up there is several feet low... The Kashwitna is little more than a gravel bar with some water flowing next to it now.
The water might be extra low and super clear, but it's icy cold... I think it may be a little too cold as the fishing has dramatically tapered off since the mercury started dropping. It is my opinion (my expert opinion... just ask me) that the fish have started moving to deeper water for the winter.

I had the same experience on Sheep saturday. Water is very low and very clear. Saw no 'bows. It was very hard to get a good drift with the wind. Almost impossible. Maybe it's time to start hitting the "flippin" Kenai a little harder.

    WRONG!!!!!!!!

Remember people, this guy is a LAKE fisherman...
I am not against the flippin kenai, since I cannot but suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering every other stream... ~Paul O'Neil~/~Wyo2AK~

Not that I feel the need to defend myself, because there is nothing wrong with fishing lakes, but my log book says I fished lakes 27 times in the past 4 months. It also says that I fished moving water 22 times. I'd say that qualifies me as simply a 'trout fisherman', or even just an 'Angler', if you prefer ;-)

When is the last time that you actually FISHED anyway??

a fisherman who uses hook and line
Webster didn't break it down but I'm pretty sure flyguys fall into the angler category.

He's not the only one logging his fishing. Some of the best fisherman I know write down their trips.
Fish when you can, work when you have to.

They do. Muzzy just likes to turn everything into a competition.... You should try tying flies with the guy! If my flies didn't alway turn out better than his I'd never hear the end of it!!

I feel I should say something here to preempt any 'you don't know Cube' jokes...

Hahahaha don't worry man, my heart still stays with the valley streams! I love me a Parks Highway trip, but the year can be drastically lengthened by making some trips to the Kenai.

I wouldn't count on it this year, the water is dropping out of the Kenai this year.
