    Default out of state guides

i am an alaskan resident and I have a friend who wants to come up to hunt a brown bear. Does he need to hire a guide? I don't want to give him wrong information.

    thank you

Yes he does need a guide as he is a non resident and can not guide himself even if he is a registered guide in AK, which I am assuming he is not cause I would think he would know this rule already. Hope that helps

If a nonresident hunter wants to legally hunt brown bears in Alaska, he needs to be on a contracted, guided hunt with a currently licensed Master or Registered Guide-Outfitter who is legally licensed, permitted, Game Management Area registered and insured to conduct hunts within Alaska.

no IFs, what ifs, Ands, buts, or Butts or should beS.....

There is an "OR," though. "Or an Alaska resident 19 years or older who is within the 2nd degree of kindred." "Non-resident aliens hunting any big game must" have an Alaska licensed guide." Won't apply in this case, but had to throw it in
