    Question Gun Stock Wax

    Any one ever use neutral shoe polish wax on a wood stock for waterproofing??

    I use Johnson's paste wax on wood stocks. Works good, a couple coats helps- inside and outside.

    Why not?

    No harm in having your gun smell like your boots. Yer dawg might even like it.

    But, seriously, to waterproof a gunstock I take it off and seal the inside surfaces with something like Birchwood glossy stock finish.

    Then, I put Rig grease on every thing else. (Coat every metal surface, inside the stock and outside.)

    yes and the metal as well....Johstons or Trewax harwood floor wax is a liitle cheaper/lb that shoe polish...
    Flitz wax works too
