    Default First Moose!! Part 2

Okay, 2010 has been a great year for my hunting partner (brother in-law) and I.

After many years we both broke the curse and harvested our first moose. The link below was the beginning of our story and it comes to a close this past weekend as on his second day home, after two weeks away at work and with a repaired rifle, he calls in and retires this old guy. Shot 150 feet from Moose #1

Two moose in the freezer and two curses broken!

    Congratulations Bro!

    Congrats on two great bulls.

I know many consider Jim Shockey to be a goof ball, and for good reason I guess. I've got now where near his world wide hunting expereince, but I do agree 100% with him when he says that in all of his hunting, nothing compares to hunting Alaska/Yukon moose.

The story for the first one was long for other reasons but the tactics for moose #1 on August 29th in 14B was intercept between night time feeding and heading to cover at first light.

Bull #2 was same location on Sept.18th, but called him in.

The area we had picked out had plenty of sign. Total days invested this year was six for these two (plus ten previous seasons of coming home empty handed).
