Question Preparation of leather sole boots?

I scored a pair of high top leather vintage Russell Mocassin boots with the date 1914 written in it and the sole is old school leather flat sole with a heel, like cowboy boots have. How should I dress the bottom of the boots? I am going to use them but want to make sure they lasta very long time. Thanks!

Treat your boots with this stuff:

    http://www.obenaufs.com/

Specifically the LP paste. They sell it at Sportsmans Warehouse if you do not want to order on the net.

Works great on my leather wildland firefighting boots.

Another option is getting some Vibram soles put on them at Boot Country Anchorage. Costs about $50 the last time I had some boots resoled there.
