    Default King Crab Question

I have set and pulled a couple of Steve's Tanner traps out of Homer and each pull has produced good Tanners as well as some King. The Kings were all missing the claws. I was told that this was probably from being caught before and some one taking the claws and then throwing them back. Could this be happing (which I hope not) or is there another reason that I don't know about.

And yes I threw all the Kings back.

    where are you setting?
i have heard of a couple spots where there are some kings, but would never set there because there are just not that many tanners in those areas...
the deep water anchorage off millers landing is one, and a bit fartherup the bay is another.
the best tanner spots are a few milles the other direction from the spit.
we have been getting 10 -20 legal crab in a 24 hr soak....

I have set west and a little north of the green can in around 300' of water. Lots of other buoys in the area. I have caught 3 kings in this area. The one trap had 14 tanner and 2 kings today.

Not sure where Millers Landing is.

It seems the Tanners are moving deeper. Earlier in the year we were getting good numbers in the 65 fathom range, now it seems we have to go to Dave's 70 fathoms. How big a pot are you using Dave?
