Do those beers put full curls on the rams!?!?! LOL!!! No reports of the August hunts have been turned in to AK Fish and Game yet so I was just wondering if anyone has been successful so far and what is going on back there for bears/sheep and weather...... Thanks!

I saw about 2 dozen rams up there in early July on a climb. had no glass with me but I suspect there was a full curl or two amongst the group. They were at, I would guess, about 6000 feet and waaaay back the valley near a snow field.

Lol, the beer doesn't help on the full curl. But! There is 3 rams outta the bunch "I" would go for a closer look, if ya know what I mean.

You can look up the permit winners and with a bit of ingenuity contact each of the early season hunters and ask how they did. When I drew a CSP sheep hunt, I contacted all the hunters and guides who went before me and knew of every sheep that got killed and where.

Was wondering the same thing. I figure he must mean the sheep that are on Pioneer or Twin Peaks, but that area is a different permit.

One beer in hand, and four already empty, Curt?

If i had one shot at this permit i'd shoot for the third bowl on the left side, when you get there you'll see 7 hanging glaciers all on the small side compared to a standard glacier.i would bet you will fine your sheep and even a few more that would meet the requirements...good luck

You may ask the ADF&G what they found during their July survey. I saw the report and they saw three sheep - total - no legal rams. A guide friend of mine was in there for the first hunt this year with the only non-resident tag and saw six sheep (no legal rams) in ten days, and he does know how to hunt sheep. I'd keep asking around if I were you. Perhaps some have moved in now. That also happens regularly. Good luck, hope you do find some, and have success.

Hi Tony, thanks for the info. We have read your book, talked with Ethan and Stan a few times ~ good info from those 2...great info from your book I called ADF&G the other day didn't get much info from the guy who answered so I'll call them back and inquire further. We are hoping that some are moving over from the ongoing hunts. We're going in with good attitudes, hoping to have some fun and hoping to find just one lil' ol' ram.... Thanks again!

One more question guys, how many game bags do I take? I have 2 - 24x36 ones in my pile to be packed.... is that enough?

That should be enough, but you may want one more for the cape/head. I usually put the meat in two seperate bags. It will generally fit in one relatively large meat bag, but it makes it easier to get it in and out of your pack with two bags. Another bag for the cape is helpful, but not absolutely necessary.
