Default Kenai King Count Contest Winner - To the victor goes the spoils

If you had won the annual Kenai King Count Contest this year, this could have been you today!

Congrats, to JediMasterSalmonSlayer! A limit of butt for him, BigCox and me and a nice little 28 lb. ling BigCox reeled in.

Yes, unless the captain is chartering paying clients. If the skipper is on his own with friends, as seems to be the case here, he can take two.

Nice fish! They look to be in the 40-60lb range. Just about right........

Sorry Cohoangler, but it is legal for a charter captain in this area to catch and retain any species of fish now even with paying clients (though there are some exceptions to that---read the regs if you're interested).

Looks like a good trip and for sure they are much bigger then the ones my wife came out of Homer with (can't remember her charters name). Even though I have never actually met either one of these guys in person both Muttley Crew and JediMaster have been great helps to me and my family on this forum so glad to see you two got together and had a good time fishing.

It was slow for a while, but we got it done. I think we had a blast and I have a feeling JediMaster and BigCox will agree with me.

Muttley, do you have to fill out transfer of possession forms?

Looks like you guys had fun.

This thread has been cleaned up to keep it on topic and to remove a handful of comments that violated the forum rules. Please keep this one on topic, please. There is another thread discussing the issue of captain limits if you are so inclined to join the discussion.

Yeah, anyone that transfers fish to another person has to fill out transfer of possession form. Guides are not immune to the rules just like private fisherpeople.

We had a blast as soon as we got into the fish!

Geez, a guy wins a contest and it turns into this crap. WTH! Can't anyone have a good time around here without getting dogged about it? I understand the arm chair F&G folks questioning legality, but dam! Not a single one of you commented on this hilarious photo on there, just had to go straight for the regs. Yes it was a good time, I had a blast! What was that guy thinking in that photo? Haha...that ling is gonna be tasty...

I agree with you bigcox! I realize that Muttley has his critics, but give it a break would you. It gets old seeing people complain about the same person over and over regardless of what he is talking about.

Looks like you guys had a nice trip, we went with muttley earlier this year and had a great time too. Lingcod tacos are the best. Top it with some Jamacan Me Crazy Sauce. That is how the Mife across the street usually cooks them. How did you get the big one in, gaff or gun?

I usually encourage my clients to throw back any "ugly fish" we catch. BigCox and I tried to push this one overboard, but it refused to go.
